At around 7 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a home on Mossy Oaks Lane to investigate what was initially reported as a self-inflicted gunshot. Officers arrived on scene and found a 19-year-old man dead from an apparent gunshot. After continued investigation by Violent Crimes Unit investigators, it was determined that the gunshot was not self-inflicted and a 14-year-old male who was located inside of the home by responding officers was taken into custody for reckless homicide.
All involved parties are accounted for and the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
