Investigation Underway After Gunshot Victim Dropped Off at UTMC 
UPDATE (February 18, 2022, 6:45 a.m.): Victim Identified from February 16th Shooting

Investigators have identified the gunshot victim who was dropped off via a personal vehicle at the UT Medical Center on Wednesday night as Stephen Jenkins, 39 of Clinton, Tennessee.  

The shooting is believed to have occurred in the Montgomery Village area, but investigators have yet to locate a crime scene.  

Investigators determined that Jenkins was dropped off at the UTMC emergency room by a Ford SUV, which has since been located and recovered.  

At this time, no suspects have been arrested or charged.

At around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the UT Medical Center, where a gunshot victim had been dropped off at the emergency room by a personal vehicle. The victim, a 39-year-old man, was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. At this time, it is unknown where the shooting occurred and a crime scene has not been located.

The incident remains under active investigation by the KPD Violent Crimes Unit. That investigation is in the early stages and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
