Mississippi Avenue Carjacking Suspect Quickly Apprehended  
On Friday, August 28 at about 5 p.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a carjacking near the intersection of Mississippi Avenue and Reed Street. A witness stated that he had observed a male suspect pull a male victim from a vehicle, assault him and flee the scene in the victim’s vehicle. 

Officers located the victim and were able to get a description of the victim’s vehicle, a two-door gray Acura Integra, and the suspect. Shortly after, officers observed a two-door gray Acura Integra with a male matching the description of the suspect in the vehicle on Stair Avenue near Reed Street. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody without incident and confirm that it was the victim’s vehicle. 

The suspect, identified as Eric Tuyisenge (DOB 5/8/96), was positively identified by the victim and witness. He was arrested and charged with carjacking and has been booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
