On Saturday, August 1 at approximately 11:40 p.m., KPD officers responded to a two-vehicle wreck on I-40 East just east of the Oglesby Road overpass. Upon arrival, due to the severity of the crash, the Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate.
Based on the evidence at the scene, the following occurred. A tractor trailer was traveling on I-40 East in stop and go traffic when it was struck in the rear by a Toyota Camry traveling at interstate speeds. The male driver of the Camry was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deceased was transported to the Regional Forensic Center for a compete autopsy. There were no other injuries reported in the crash.
