W. Oak Hill Avenue Homicide Investigation

UPDATE (July 21, 2020, 6:50 p.m.): The victim of the fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday, July 21 in the 700 block of W. Oak Hill Avenue has been identified as Phillip Sneed (DOB: 10/2/83) of Detroit, Michigan. The investigation remains ongoing as Violent Crimes Unit investigators are pursuing all leads.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 700 block of W. Oak Hill Avenue. Upon arrival, a male victim was located in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Violent Crimes Unit investigators and Forensics Unit personnel responded to the scene to begin the investigation, which remains in the preliminary stages. The shooting is not believed to be random in nature. Investigators are pursuing all leads and there are no suspects in custody at this time. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
