Computer Systems Plus Celebrates its New Storefront
Congratulations to the owners and employees of Computer Systems Plus, 605 Sevier Ave., who with a Tuesday ribbon-cutting celebrated their new storefront - made possible through the Community Development Department's Commercial Façade Program.
David and Sarah Glass have owned the building since 1986, and Computer Systems Plus has called the South Waterfront site its home since 1984. The company and the City jointly invested almost $80,000 in recent exterior improvements - a new storefront, new windows and doors, a new canopy, architectural metal work and new lighting and signage.
The City of Knoxville’s facade grants have been used successfully to stimulate redevelopment in such places as the Downtown North area, the Magnolia Avenue Warehouse District, along Gay Street, along Broadway, on Martin Mill Pike and elsewhere.
The building at 605 Sevier Ave. is the 135th building to be improved using the Commercial Facade Program. The program to date has created 258 jobs, helped retain 403 jobs, and supported more than 1,500 construction jobs.
The City has invested more than $5 million while leveraging more than $11 million in private investment. Property taxes have more than doubled on the improved properties, while appaised values have almost tripled.
Congrats, Computer Systems Plus - the new storefront looks great!
