Argo, distinguished Knoxville Police Department K9, honored with Young-Williams stone memorial
Argo, a Knoxville Police Department K9, was honored with a stone memorial at Young-Williams Animal Center on Tuesday morning.
Argo served 7 years as one of KPD’s most distinguished police dogs – responding to nearly 600 calls for service, assisting in more than 200 arrests, and helping seize guns and drugs.
The 8½-year-old German shepherd died in August after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. KPD Officer Darrell Sexton was Argo’s partner and his only handler, and Officer Sexton was given a memorial brick honoring Argo's service.
A large memorial stone engraved with Argo’s years of service was unveiled in Young-Williams’ Nancy Hall Connatser Garden.
