KPD Investigating Deadly Early-Morning Shooting on Fifth Avenue
At around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a shooting that happened outside of a home in the 2700 block of E. Fifth Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and found a man dead from an apparent gunshot. It was reported that multiple individuals were seen running away from the scene after the shooting.
A short time later, another man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was dropped off at the UT Medical Center by a black Ford sedan, which then left the scene.
The Ford sedan was later located by Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Chapman Highway and stopped by deputies at the Weigel’s on Chapman Highway. Another man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was found in the car and transported to the UT Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing and in the early stages. At this time, KPD Violent Crimes Unit investigators are continuing to interview possible witnesses.
Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165 or online at
www.easttnvalleycrimestoppers.org
. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.
