KPD Investigating Suspected Hit-and-Run Fatality (August 21, 2023)

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a suspected hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

At around 3 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023, KPD Officers responded to Magnolia Avenue near Jessamine Street on the report of an unresponsive person in the roadway. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, who remains unidentified at this time. It is believed that the victim was struck by an unknown vehicle that then left the scene traveling west on Magnolia Avenue.

The victim was transported to the Regional Forensic Center for further examination and identification.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.
