Fatal Crash on I-40 West nea...
Fatal Crash on I-40 West near Mile Marker 395
At around 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, KPD officers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on I-40 West near mile marker 395. Based on the evidence present at the scene, a motorcycle and a silver Volkswagen Jetta were traveling on I-40 West when the Jetta collided with the motorcycle. The male rider was thrown from the motorcycle and subsequently struck by numerous passing vehicles. The victim was deceased upon officer arrival at the scene. Due to the severity of the crash, KPD crash reconstruction officers responded to the scene to begin the investigation, which is in the preliminary stages at this time.
Crash reconstruction officers are seeking information from anyone who might have witnessed the crash. Those with information potentially relevant to the investigation are urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at
