Homicide Investigation Underway After Gunshot Victim Located in Montgomery Village (June 22, 2023) 
UPDATE: June 23, 2023, 11 a.m.

The victim from the shooting that happened early Thursday morning in the 1100 block of Daylily Drive has been identified as Jamarion Chambers, 18 of Knoxville.   

Based on investigation conducted so far by Knoxville Police Department Homicide Unit detectives, it is believed that Chambers walking through the Montgomery Village complex early Thursday morning when he was shot numerous times by an unknown suspect. 

Homicide detectives are working active leads.

The investigation is ongoing.

An investigation is underway after a gunshot victim was found in Montgomery Village early Thursday morning.

At around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of Daylily Drive in reference to an unresponsive male laying near the dumpsters outside of the building. Officers arrived on scene and located the subject of the call, who had been shot multiple times. The victim, identified as an 18-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple spent shell casings were recovered at the scene.

The victim was transported to the Regional Forensic Center for further examination.

The death is under active investigation by KPD Homicide Unit detectives. At this time, detectives are interviewing several potential witnesses.
