Neighborhood Safety and Awareness Meetings Begin Feb. 24, 2022

Posted: 02/14/2022
City departments engaged in public safety issues will meet with neighbors at the first Neighborhood Safety and Awareness meeting on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, 6-8 p.m. at Logan Temple AME Zion Church, 2744 Selma Ave.

This first meeting will include crime data for the Parkridge, Morningside, Holston Hills, Burlington, Chilhowee and additional East Knoxville neighborhoods.

Future series meetings will be held in–and focus on–North, West and South areas of the city.

At each meeting, staff members from the Knoxville Police Department, Office of Neighborhood Empowerment and Police Advisory & Review Committee (PARC) will present crime data and crime-prevention tips. Community Safety Director LaKenya Middlebrook and East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers Coordinator Adam Schloegel will explain how their programs are working to reduce and solve crimes.

“The purpose of these meetings is to discuss public safety matters with residents, address ongoing concerns and provide available resources,” says KPD Officer and Neighborhood Watch Coordinator John Morgan. “Many neighborhood crimes are crimes of opportunity that residents can help prevent with simple, common-sense practices.”
