311 Call Center - Customer Service is what the City of Knoxville 311 Center for Service Innovation is all about! City residents can dial 311 to access information about services provided by the City. (Office Internship)
Communications - Department provides accurate information to citizens and the media in a timely manner. (Office Internship)
Community Empowerment - Department is the liaison between community organizations and the city, addressing the concerns of these groups. We are working together for meaningful change and a more equitable city. (Office / Field internship)
Employee Benefits - Department and is responsible for the traditional risk areas of liability, work related injuries, and property loss. The City both self-assures and self-administers all workers' compensation and liability claims, so that the City acts much like its own insurance company. (Office Internship)
Fire Department - Department will provide various opportunities to explore our City’s Fire Stations and Firefighters Roles. (Office / Field internship)
Fleet Services - Department maintains the city's fleet of more than 1,400 vehicles and equipment (from squad cars to fire trucks and snow plows) which city employees use to deliver many essential public services. (Office / Field Internship)
Human Resources - Department provides quality services and support to the City of Knoxville by promoting the concept that our employees are our most valuable resource and will be treated as such. (Office Internship)
Information Systems - Department provides computer services and support for the various city departments (Office Internship)
Knox Planning - Department promotes quality development and preserves neighborhood integrity and safety through plans review, permits, building inspections, and other regulatory activities. (Office Internship)
Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) - Department oversees all ground transportation for the City of Knoxville, including KAT's routes, schedules, and fares. (Office / Field Internship)
Neighborhood Empowerment - Department serves as a liaison between neighborhood organizations and city departments; works to build the capacity of neighborhood groups to better serve their communities; and facilitates better communication among neighborhoods, city government, and non-governmental organizations. (Office Internship)
Police Advisory & Review Committee (PARC) - This Department is to strengthen the relationship between community members of the City of Knoxville and the Knoxville Police Department, by providing a timely, fair, and objective review of community complaints while also protecting the individual rights of police officers. (Office Internship)
Parks and Recreation - If you love working with kids and have some experience this department offers a wide variety of activities for youth in our City Recreation Centers. (Field Internship)
Police Department - This Department will involve several opportunities to be in the community, including safety city, forensic exploration, etc… (Field Internship)
Public Service - Service Department (PSD) provides the majority of the services residents of City of Knoxville use every day. These services include garbage collection, brush and leaf collection, facility and street maintenance, horticulture services, among others. (Field Internship)
Sustainability - Department focuses on the major areas of emissions throughout the city. Based on our greenhouse gas inventories, we prioritize projects and initiatives to drive down emissions both within City operations and throughout the community as a whole. (Office Internship) |
