The eastbound lane will be open and used to alternate traffic.
KUB and its contractor, Garney Construction, will close a section Union Avenue and Clinch Avenue between the South Gay Street and State Street, and reduce State Street to one lane between Clinch Avenue and Union Avenue, starting on Monday, October 20, and lasting through Friday, November 14, as work continues on the Downtown Century II multiple utilities upgrade project. State Street remains closed to traffic between the Promenade Parking Garage and Commerce Avenue. There will be no curbside parking available along State Street. Motorist wishing to access the Promenade Garage are recommended to follow South Central Street to Union Avenue. Customers will be able to enter and exit the Promenade Garage in the usual manner via the south booth (closest to the Union Avenue intersection). Exiting traffic will be required to turn right onto State Street, and then make a left turn on to Union Avenue (see attached map). Additionally, S. Central Street will be bidirectional between Commerce Avenue and Union Avenue. These activities will take place over the course of the day, Monday, October 20. Some night and weekend work may be required to meet project milestone dates. As work areas shift, follow up advisories will be issued.
Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at this location to assist motorists traveling in the area. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use extreme caution and expect temporary delays in this area.
