Mayor Madeline Rogero, Councilman Daniel Brown, Steven Scruggs of the Knoxville Re-animation Coalition, Katherine Ambroziak - assistant professor of architecture at the University of Tennessee and others held a ribbon cutting at Odd Fellows Cemetery at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 30 at the intersection of South Kyle Street and Kenner Avenue.

Odd Fellows Cemetery, one of the first African American cemeteries in Knoxville, dates back to 1880. The cemetery had become overgrown, and as part of a community restoration effort, the City has recently done paving, maintenance, and tree-planting to protect and preserve the site. The ribbon-cutting will celebrate that work and recognize the ongoing project to bring attention to this historic cemetery.
