Week 56: Concrete Foundation Walls Formed, Poured
Lots of concrete began to pour on the last weekday in February.

Crews with Al Blankenship Enterprises have continued since then, forming and pouring new foundation walls at the City's Public Safety Complex.

Foundation walls are being manufactured at the end of what was formerly known as the Central Wing Annex, returning to the former Women's Pavilion; another running the length of the Central Wing Annex; and yet another foundation wall running under where a City Court building will be constructed, connecting to the Central Wing Annex.

Here's what the North Knoxville site looked like last week:

Here is the new foundation wall that runs under where a new court building will be constructed.

When it opens in summer 2022, the Public Safety Complex will house Police, Fire, Pension System and backup E-911 operations in the vacated hospital's repurposed Professional Office Building, Central Wing Annex and Women's Pavilion. A new single-story City Court is being constructed, adjoining the complex.

Lincoln Memorial University is renovating the Magdalen Clarke Tower and is offering nursing classes there this semester. Meanwhile, the historic 1929 Building has meticulously been preserved.
