Week 13: Professional Office Building Interior Demolition Continues
During the 13th week of demolition and reconstruction at the Public Safety Complex site, contractor crews are fanning out and advancing on multiple fronts.

Environmental Abatement Inc. continues with overhead demolition in the former Professional Office Building (fifth floor) on the former St. Mary's Hospital site. The contractor also is demolishing LL3 in the Central Annex and installing a trash chute on the fifth and sixth floors.

Meanwhile, NEO Corp. is abating asbestos in LL2 of the Central Wing.

The City is investing $40 million to overhaul the vacated hospital and transform it into a combined Public Safety Complex that will house Police, Fire, City Court and Pension Systems operations. Another $6.5 million is being spent to clear parts of the northern end of the campus to accommodate future private redevelopment. Lincoln Memorial University is remodeling the former Magdalene Clark Tower into classrooms.
