Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Asheville Highway

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a fatal, motorcycle-involved crash that happened this morning on Asheville Highway.

At around 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023, KPD officers responded to the intersection of Asheville Highway and Ruggles Ferry Pike on the report of a crash involving a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by AMR personnel.

Based on investigation conducted at the scene, it is believed that the motorcycle was traveling west on Asheville Highway when a Honda SUV attempted to turn left onto Ruggles Ferry. The motorcycle then struck the side of the Honda. The Honda remained on scene. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time and the crash remains under investigation by KPD crash reconstruction investigators.
