KPD Investigating After Man Found Dead in Alley Off Juanita Cannon Street 
UPDATE (December 7, 2021, 1:20 p.m.): Victim Found Off Juanita Cannon Street Identified, Investigation Ongoing

The man who was found deceased in an alley off Juanita Cannon Street on Monday morning has been identified as Joseph Hines, 27 of Knoxville, Tennessee. The KPD Violent Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate Hines’ death. There is no suspect information available at this time.  

Investigators are continuing to seek information regarding Hines’ death. The Knoxville Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the death of a man who was discovered in an alley off of Juanita Cannon Street early Monday morning.  

At around 5:25 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021, KPD officers responded to the area of Juanita Cannon Street and Selma Avenue on the report of an unresponsive man. Officers and emergency medical providers arrived on scene and located the man in an alley off of Juanita Cannon Street, where he was pronounced deceased. Violent Crimes Unit investigators and Medical Examiner’s personnel responded to the scene for further investigation and determined that the victim had been shot at least one time. At this time, the investigation is ongoing and remains in the preliminary stages.
