KPD Returns to Normal Operations, No Longer Operating on Pandemic Response Plan
With COVID-19 cases dwindling and nearly 40 percent of Knox County residents fully vaccinated, the Knoxville Police Department went off of its Pandemic Response Plan and returned to normal operations, effective at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 24.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the KPD implemented numerous measures to limit person-to-person contact when possible and minimize the spread of the virus in line with CDC guidelines.

Among other adjustments aimed at reducing contact with members of the public and fellow employees, those precautions included limited patrol response for non-injury traffic crashes and some non-emergency calls and reduced access to the Public Safety Building.

The KPD will continue to follow the most recent Executive Order issued by Mayor Indya Kincannon, which does not require the use of a mask by anyone who is fully vaccinated.
