Traffic fatality on Alcoa Highway near Cherokee Trail exit  
UPDATE (Wednesday, May 6, 8:00 a.m.): The victim from the fatal collision on Tuesday morning on Alcoa Highway has been identified as Samuel Stevens, age 34, of Knoxville, Tennessee. 


On Tuesday, May 5 at 5:45 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of Alcoa Highway near the Cherokee Trail exit.  Based on the preliminary investigation at the scene, a passenger vehicle was traveling south on Alcoa Highway just before the Cherokee Trail exit when it struck a pedestrian. The driver stated that the pedestrian was crossing Alcoa Highway when the collision occurred. The adult male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by AMR. No other injuries were reported. The KPD Crash Reconstruction team responded to the scene to begin their investigation. Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
