City, Partners Break Ground on Suttree Landing Park
City, neighborhood leaders and kids break ground on new Suttree Landing Park.

Big turnout this morning for the Suttree Landing Park groundbreaking in South Knoxville - lots of enthusiastic families and community leaders, eager to see the park construction about to get underway!

City officials and South Waterfront neighborhood and redevelopment partners today broke ground on the new $3.4 million Suttree Landing Park.

The 8.25-acre linear park will be a strategic asset in the redevelopment of the three-mile South Waterfront, Mayor Madeline Rogero said.

“We look forward to the opening of Suttree Landing Park in about a year,” Mayor Rogero said. “This park will offer unique amenities with well-designed features. It will be a great place where families can spend quality time, and visitors can enjoy wonderful river views. It’ll be a favorite spot for outdoor recreation enthusiasts.”

Suttree Landing Park will showcase a festival lawn, children’s playground, an accessible boat dock, a put-in ramp, river overlooks and parking. Complementing the park will be a new 2,988-foot-long two-lane tree-lined street, Waterfront Drive, which will offer direct access to Suttree Landing Park.

Suttree Landing Park also will include a 2,000-foot-long section of riverwalk. Over time, the riverwalk will span the entire three-mile-long South Waterfront. Another section of the public riverwalk is in place at the City View development, with new sections to be built at the Baptist Hospital site and at River’s Edge Apartments. Combined, these four sections will make up about a mile of new greenway along the river’s edge.

Suttree Landing Park and Waterfront Drive together represent a $6.6 million City investment.
