This holiday season, we celebrated the incredible work of our Public Service Department by counting the many ways they keep our city clean, beautiful and operating smoothly. Enjoy this countdown of the 12 Days of Public Service!
Day 12
12,000 pansies blooming for the Pansy Project!
Day 11
11,000 warehouse items stocked to support daily operations.
Day 10
10 Morris Ave admin employees powering City operations.
Day 9
Nine craftworkers building and repairing Knoxville’s key structures.
Day 8
Eight street sweepers sweeping more than 23,000 lane miles annually.
Day 7
7,000 tons of leaves composted for a greener Knoxville!
Day 6
Six codes officers conducting more than 17,000 inspections this year!
Day 5
500 trees planted to help reach 40 percent tree canopy coverage within city limits by 2040.
Day 4
Four garbage trucks collecting trash and recycling downtown daily.
Day 3
Three asphalt trucks patching more than 5,000 potholes annually.
Day 2
Two Ed Warrens talking and keeping the Transfer Station running smoothly!
