Kid A’Riffic: Touch-A-Truck,...
Kid A’Riffic: Touch-A-Truck, Ice Cream and Hayrides!
The third Kid A’Riffic of the summer was a hit!
Despite heat in the mid-90s, the outdoor event remained lively. Parents, grandparents, and children came from all parts of Knoxville to enjoy some quality time running through the water, creating art, and getting to explore City vehicles.
The Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum provided beautiful scenery and lots of space for the children to play and create lasting memories with their friends and family. The open lawn was surrounded by trees and covered with fun activities for the children to enjoy.
The welcome table was available for snacks and water, as well as sunglasses and beach balls to kick off the visit. Every table provided activities and learning opportunities for the kids, with many leaving with complimentary goodies and handmade crafts.
Summer in the City intern Ayanna Albright assisted with the welcome table.
The free Kid A’Riffic and City of Knoxville bags were great for storing the many coloring pages and books the kids accumulated.
Every inch of the event was full of laughter and fun from adults and youngsters alike. Events like Kid A’Riffic offer a special opportunity for the City to create bonds with citizens and for families to grow closer.
Mayor Indya Kincannon joined Summer in the City interns at the June 22 Kid A'Riffic event.
The highlight of this Kid A’Riffic was definitely the Touch-A-Truck event. Never done before, the City brought in police cars, tractors, fire trucks and more! Children were allowed to explore the insides and see up close the vehicles our uniformed and public service workers operate daily. A tractor even came back and forth, taking kids on a hayride to see the lush greenery of the gardens!
To beat the heat, plenty of water was provided by the Special Events department. Radio station B97.5 FM encouraged all attendees to enjoy the free, unlimited ice cream. Everything at Kid A'Riffic is completely free and provided by the City and participating organizations.
The next Kid A’Riffic will be held Wednesday, June 29, at the World's Fair Park. No registration is needed; just show up ready to have some fun!
