City of Knoxville Lauded as Best Workplace for Commuters
In late January, the City of Knoxville was named one of 2020’s Best Workplaces for Commuters in the nation.

This week, Smart Trips held their annual Commuter Appreciation Ceremony and honored the City as a Best Workplaces for Commuters along with Knoxville-Knox County Planning and Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL).

Best Employer

Smart Trips' Savannah Robertson (above, right) emceed the event and the awards ceremony, at which Brian Blackmon, Director of the Office of Sustainability (above, left), accepted on behalf of the City of Knoxville.

Additionally, the City was honored among the 2019 Top Employers: Three Rivers Market, Knoxville - Knox Co Planning, University of Tennessee Medical Center, and Oak Ridge National Lab. Each employer offers employees perks for reducing their solo car commutes through car-pooling or alternative transportation.

Among the many benefits the City's approximately 1,500 employees receive are several that encourage them to get to work by means other than driving alone. Benefits include a 20-ride KAT Bus pass per month, carpooling options, and a rewards program through Smart Trips.

George Daws

Civil Engineer Manager for the City, George Daws, won the honor of Most (Bike) Trips Logged in 2019.

Congrats to George and all City of Knoxville employees who make commuting healthier for themselves and our environment.
