Suspect Identified from New Year’s Eve Fatal Shooting
Knoxville Police Department investigators have obtained warrants charging D’Tearius Southern, 27 of Knoxville, Tennessee, with the murder of Terrell Kemp on New Year’s Eve in the 2000 block of Countryhill Lane. The investigation, which is being led by the Violent Crimes Unit, shows that Southern shot Kemp following a physical altercation inside of the duplex. He then fled the scene prior to officer arrival and has not yet been located.
Southern is being sought on charges of first degree murder, convicted felon in possession of a weapon and aggravated assault, as he is also accused of assaulting and threatening to kill a woman who attempted to intervene in the altercation.
Anyone with information regarding Southern’s whereabouts is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers, which is available 24/7 by phone at 865-216-7165, online at
www.easttnvalleycrimestoppers.org
or via the P3 Tips mobile app. Tipsters will remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward if the information provided leads to Southern’s apprehension.
