KUB Lane Closures for January 3-12, 2018

Posted: 01/03/2018
(Downtown Knoxville) Union Avenue Intermittent Lane Closure [Extended, Overnight, January 3] – KUB crews will implement intermittent closures as needed of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Union Avenue between Locust Street and Walnut Street starting at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, through 5 a.m. Thursday, January 4, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the area. Crews will only close one lane at a time as needed to complete work, and one lane of alternating traffic access will be maintained at all times. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control.

(Downtown Knoxville) W. Church Avenue Lane Closure [January 4] – KUB crews will close a short section of eastbound W. Church Avenue between S. Gay Street and the E. Church Avenue bridge from 3-11 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the area. Northbound State Street traffic will be maintained through the Church Avenue intersection, and the westbound lane of W. Church Avenue will remain open and be used to alternate traffic through the work zone. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control.

(West Knoxville) Road Closure – Piney Grove Church Road [Revised Dates, January 8-12] – KUB contract crews will implement a road closure of a short section of Piney Grove Church Road between Ferd Hickey Road and N. Forest Road daily, from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., starting Monday, January 8, through Friday, January 12, as work is performed on the wastewater collection system in the area. Alternate routes include Glade Hill Drive, Ferd Hickey Road, Granda Drive, W. Forest Boulevard, and Middlebrook Pike. Appropriate signage and flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. No work will occur on weekends, and all roadways will reopen outside of work hours. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary. Previous advisory indicated this work would occur January 3-9.

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
