KUB Lane Closures on Gwinfield Dr., Westchester Dr., Williams St. and N. Central St.

Due to utility maintenance, KUB will have lane closures on on Gwinfield Dr., Westchester Dr., Williams St. and N. Central St.

(South Knoxville) Gwinfield Drive & Chapman Highway Closures [Extended February 27-28] – KUB contract crews will close Gwinfield Drive between Chapman Highway and Fronda Lane SE, from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., on Monday, February 27, and Tuesday, February 28, as work is performed on the wastewater collection system in the area. Crews will also close a short section of the curbside, northbound lane of Chapman Highway, between Fronda Lane SE and Gwinfield Drive, during the listed hours as a part of this work. One northbound lane and both southbound lanes of Chapman Highway will remain open during this time. Access to local driveways will be maintained, and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. 

(North Knoxville) Westchester Drive Road Closure [February 27 – March 3] – KUB contract crews will close a short section of Westchester Drive between Lynette Drive and Mac-Alice Drive, daily from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., starting Monday, February 27, and lasting through Friday, March 3, as work is performed on the wastewater collection system in the area. All lanes will reopen to traffic outside of listed work hours. Lynette Drive is the alternate route during this closure. Local traffic access to driveways will be maintained, and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. 

(Old City) Williams Street Road Closure [February 27- March 3] – KUB contract crews will close a short section of Williams Street between Magnolia Avenue and Depot Avenue, daily from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., starting Monday, February 27, and lasting through Friday, March 3, as work is performed on the wastewater collection system in the area. All lanes will reopen to traffic outside of listed work hours. Alternate routes include Magnolia Avenue, Ogden Street, and Depot Avenue. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary. 

(N. Central Streetscapes Project) N. Central Street Lane Closure [February 24 – early April] – KUB and its contractor will close both northbound lanes and the bicycle lane on N. Central Street between N. Broadway and Pearl Place starting Monday morning, February 27, and lasting through early April 2017. Both northbound lanes and the northbound bicycle lane will be closed continuously for the duration of work on this section of N. Central Street. Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions, however, with one northbound and one southbound lane shifting to the southbound side of N. Central Street. Southbound bicycle traffic will merge with vehicle traffic through the work zone. Vehicle traffic is advised to remain aware of the ongoing presence of workers, equipment, traffic channeling devices, barricades, and signs in this area. Note that connecting side street intersections in this area will remain open until work is required at those locations. Follow up notices will be issued ahead of any work requiring intersection closures in this work zone.   

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
