When snow and ice threaten public safety for the City of Knoxville, the Public Service Department responds immediately. The snow removal plan prioritizes all streets within the city limits giving first priority to major thoroughfares and hospital areas. The second priority is the collector streets that feed into the major arterial routes, plus any trouble spots such as hills and dangerous intersections. When these streets are passable the next focus is the minor collector streets and finally neighborhood streets.

If you need to make a request concerning a road outside the city limits, but inside Knox County, dial 865-215-5825.

The interstate system is cleared by the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation at 865-594-9101.
