The State of Tennessee only requires Liability Insurance coverage.

* If you drive, it is your responsibility to be insured! It does not matter who owns the car, nor where the car is now, to receive any "relief" on this charge, you must show "Proof of Insurance" coverage on the date the citation was received.

Knoxville CITY COURT "Relief" Option
"Speeding" On The Interstate - SPECIAL

Recently, a KPD Officer cited you for SPEEDING/INTERSTATE, which, by State Law, is treated differently than simple "speeding." You do not need to appear in Court on this charge if you follow these instructions...

* In accordance with Tennessee Department of Safety policy, this Court does not report speeding violations cited on an Interstate Highway unless the cited speed is 75 mph or above, or unless the violation occurs within an area designated as a "construction zone" (with 45 mph Speed Limit).

* Therefore, Speeding Charges on the Interstate, with cited speed of 74 mph or less (in a non-construction zone) will have no effect on your driving record nor your Insurance, since they are not reported to DOS.

* $96.50 is the least you might pay if you go to Court and this is your 1st traffic ticket. (That assumes the Judge grants you "Judicial Diversion," which is not guaranteed. The Judge would probably also allow you to attend Traffic School, but that would cost you at least another $50. Since this charge has "no points," getting diversion or Traffic School to keep the points off is not needed.

TO DETERMINE YOUR PAYMENT AMOUNT: Review the following to determine which bests describes your situation, then make payment to City Court by your scheduled court date via the mail (City Court, P.O. Box 2749, Knoxville, TN 37901), at a City Court Service Counter or SUBMIT A PAYMENT ONLINE.

A) CITED SPEED BETWEEN 1 TO 14 MPH OVER THE LIMIT (INCLUSIVE), PAY BEFORE COURT $116.50
B) CITED SPEED BETWEEN 15 TO 24 MPH OVER THE LIMIT (INCLUSIVE), PAY BEFORE COURT $126.50
B) CITED SPEED BETWEEN 25 MPH OR MORE OVER THE LIMIT OR IN A SCHOOL ZONE (INCLUSIVE), PAY BEFORE COURT $151.50
