ORNL FCU Invests in The Change Center

Posted: 09/13/2017
CHange CenterAt 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017, ORNL FCU will be donating a vehicle and $10,000 to The Change Center in Knoxville, located at 203 Harriet Tubman Street.

The donated vehicle, branded with The Change Center’s logo and colors, will be used by The Change Center to safely transport teens to and from selected work sites.

The $10,000 donation will be used to support The Change Center’s mission of creating an initiative that transforms lives through increased opportunities and pathways to success through education and jobs.

The Change Center is set to open in the spring of 2018. The strategically-located recreational facility will offer a safe place for teens and young adults to go for entertainment, leadership development, and jobs initiatives. Teens and young adults will have the opportunity to interact with local business leaders, participate in non-traditional sports, and receive job training and mentorship opportunities.

“We are grateful to have community partners like ORNL FCU who are committed to creating healthy vital communities,” said The Change Center’s Executive Director, Nicole Chandler. “Change does not happen overnight. Community partners, who are willing to engage with our youth through generous gifts like the donation from ORNL FCU, ensure long term outcomes of positive changes in our communities.”

ORNL FCU will continue to invest in The Change Center once open by offering internships at its nearby East Knoxville Branch and providing a financial education course on-site for the teens.
