Child Safety Seat Checkpoint October 14, 2017 - CANCELED

Child Safety Seat CheckpointsDue to paving on 5th Avenue, the Child Safety Seat Checkpoint has been canceled for Saturday, October 14. The next event is scheduled for November 11, 2017.


The Knoxville Police Department will conduct a free child car seat checkpoint from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 917 E. Fifth Avenue.

According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), 80% of all child restraints are used incorrectly. 

During the KPD checkpoint, child car seats will be checked by a certified car seat technician.

The technicians will provide instructions and demonstrate the correct way to install your child's car seat.

Directions from I-40: Take exit 389 (Broadway - Hall of Fame Drive exit), Take Hall of Fame Drive toward downtown, Go 0.4 of a mile and turn left onto East Fifth Avenue at the Fraternal Order of Police Building, go 0.1 of a mile and turn left into the parking lot after going under the railroad trestle.
