KUB Lane Closures on State St., W. Church Ave., Highland Ave., Greenway Dr., Wrights Ferry Rd., Kingston Pk., Cedar Lane Rd.

Due to utility maintenance, KUB will have lane closures on State St., W. Church Ave., Highland Ave., Greenway Dr., Wrights Ferry Rd., Kingston Pk., Cedar Lane Rd.

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – State Street Road Closure [June 27 – July 1] – KUB and its contractor will implement a road closure of State Street between Commerce Avenue and Union Avenue from 6 a.m., Monday, June 27, through 6 p.m., Friday, July 1, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. Alternate routes include S Gay Street, W Summit Hill Drive, S. Central Street, Cumberland Avenue, and Union Avenue. Access to the Promenade Parking Garage will be maintained. Please see attached DCII Project map for more detailed traffic information. 

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – W. Church Avenue Road Closure [June 27 – July 15] – KUB and its contractor will implement a road closure of W. Church Avenue between Henley Street and Locust Street from 6 a.m. Monday, through 6 p.m. Friday, starting Monday, June 27, through Friday, July 15, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. Alternate routes include Henley Street, Clinch Avenue, Locust Street, Main Street, Walnut Street, and Cumberland Avenue. The contractor will make every effort to open at least one lane of traffic on weekends.  Please see attached DCII Project map for more detailed traffic information. 

(Downtown Knoxville) Union Avenue Road Closure [June 27-28] – KUB crews will close a section of Union Avenue between S. Gay Street and State Street, overnight from 11 p.m. Monday, June 27, until 6 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, as work is performed on the electric distribution system in the area. Alternate routes include S. Gay Street, State Street, Clinch Avenue, and Wall Avenue. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. 

(Fort Sanders Area) Highland Avenue Road Closure [June 27-July 1] – KUB contract crews will close a section of Highland Avenue between Eighteenth Street and Seventeenth Street, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily, starting, Monday, June 27, through Friday, July 1,  as work is performed on the wastewater collection system in the area. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. Alternate routes include Eighteenth Street, Laurel Avenue, Clinch Avenue, and Seventeenth Street. During work hours, on-street parking will NOT be available. Crews will reopen the majority of on-street parking overnight (where construction allows), but ALL vehicles must be moved before 7 a.m. the following work day. Follow-up advisories will be issued as necessary. 

(North Knoxville) Greenway Drive Lane Closure [June 28 & 29] – KUB contract crews will reduce a section of Greenway Drive to one alternating lane of traffic between New Beverly Baptist Church Road and Washington Pike from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, as work is performed on the water distribution system in the area. The eastbound lane will be closed while the westbound lane remains open and is used to alternate traffic. Roadway repair work will occur during the same hours on Wednesday, June 29, only in the event that work is not completed on June 28. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. 

(West Knoxville) Wrights Ferry Road Lane Closure [June 28] – KUB contract crews will reduce a section of Wrights Ferry Road to one alternating lane of traffic between South Northshore Drive and Dogwood Drive from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, as work is performed on the water distribution system in the area. The southbound lane will be closed while the northbound lane remains open and is used to alternate traffic. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. 

(West Knoxville) Kingston Pike Shifting Lane Closure [June 28- 29] – KUB crews will implement shifting temporary lane closures on Kingston Pike between Morrell Road and Gallaher View Drive , overnight from 11 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, through 5 a.m., Wednesday, June 29,  as fire hydrant testing occurs in the area. Lane closures will be limited to the immediate area where crews are working, and may occur in either the east or westbound curbside lanes, depending on the location of the fire hydrant being tested. Crews will maintain at least one east or westbound lane of traffic at all times. Access will be maintained to side streets and driveways. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling in this area, and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control if necessary. 

(North Knoxville) Cedar Lane Road/Lane Closure [July 5-24] – Beginning on Tuesday, July 5, and lasting through Sunday, July 24, KUB will implement a series of lane and full road closures on the section of Cedar Lane between Rockcrest Road and Lyndell Road as work is performed on the water distribution system near the Montrose Drive intersection and St. Joseph School.  There will be at least one lane closed on this section of Cedar Lane daily between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. from July 5-24, with full road closures planned for the following dates/times: Wednesday, July 6; 9 p.m.–6 a.m. (Overnight); Thursday, July 7; 9 p.m.–6 a.m. (Overnight); Saturday, July 9, and Sunday, July 10; 6 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17; 6 a.m.–6 p.m. All work and traffic impacts are dependent on weather and conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Portions of this work are being scheduled during overnight hours and on weekends to expedite construction and minimize impacts to residents and traffic in the immediate area. During periods requiring single lane closures, flaggers will be present to alternate east and westbound traffic flow through the work zone. Access to driveways will be maintained.  Alternate routes around the work zone include Rockcrest Road, Fair Drive, and Heins Road. Access to driveways and other entrances/exits will be maintained for local traffic and emergency vehicles on this section of Cedar Lane. All lanes on this section of Cedar Lane are expected to reopen to traffic outside of the listed work hours. 

 Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
