Nick Pavlis was born and raised in Fountain City. He graduated from Central High School in 1973, and then earned a BS from the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga.

In 1995, Nick was elected as City Councilman At-Large and served two terms. During this time, he supported the renaissance of Downtown Knoxville, the creation of new city parks and greenways throughout the city, the building of the Convention Center, and the renovation of McGhee-Tyson Airport. While serving as City Councilman, he also chaired the Beer Board for eight years.

After leaving his family business, he began working in the cable industry. He currently serves as Director of Government Relations for Charter's Tennessee/Louisiana operations.

In 2009, Nick was elected as City Councilman for the First District. He was re-elected in 2013, and he also served as Vice Mayor from 2011-15. 

Among his many interests, Nick has been an avid golfer since childhood. He loves football, animals of all kinds (especially dogs and blue birds), biking, hiking, and enjoying the wonders of South Knoxville's Urban Wilderness.
