Mayors Sign We Back Pat Billboard

City of Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett signed the "We Back PAT" billboard today in the City County Building.

After University of Tennessee Basketball Coach Pat Summitt announced she was diagnosed with onset dementia Alzheimer's type, the billboard was created to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's disease.

Today visitors showed their support for Coach Pat Summitt and families living with Alzheimer's disease by making a small donation to sign the billboard.

Billboard sponsor Alzheimer's Tennessee Inc. also had "We Back Pat" pins and other items available for purchase.

Make sure and mark your calendar for the the Knoxville Alzheimer's WALK which will be Saturday, April 14. The walk, hosted by Alzheimer's Tennessee, is behing held to honor families coping with Alzheimer's and those diagnosed with it. Summitt and former University of Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer are honorary co-chairs of the walk.

In Tennessee, more than 120,000 Tennesseans have Alzheimer's disease, and an estimated 400,000 Tennesseans are caregivers for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia.

Every dollar raised by Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc. funds vital programs and services in Tennessee, including educational programs for family caregivers and healthcare professionals as well as advocacy for top research.
