KCDC Hosts Forum for Community Discussion on Five Points Revitalization

Posted: 09/13/2012
Five Points residents and community stakeholders will gather at the Walter P. Taylor Boys and Girls Club at 317 McConnell Street from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 for a Five Points Forum, a facilitated discussion about the revitalization of the Five Points neighborhood.

Knoxville's Community Development Corporation (KCDC) staff will lead a facilitated discussion to gather feedback on the revitalization process. The meeting will focus on the concept of the neighborhood as a whole, such as what residents are looking for in education programs; opportunities for business growth and employment; and public safety.

Superintendent of Knox County Schools Dr. Jim McIntyre, Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Poole and Pellissippi State Community College President Dr. Anthony Wise will present on new programs and initiatives in their respective areas and how these factor into the revitalization of Five Points.

Alvin Nance, executive director and CEO of KCDC, will also provide a brief update on the first phase of demolition of Walter P. Taylor Homes.

This is the third Five Points Forum held by KCDC to continue the conversation about Five Points revitalization.
