Dutch Valley View Apartment Complex Ribbon Cutting Kicks off Community Development Week

Posted: 04/05/2012
A Ribbon-cutting ceremony for Dutch Valley View apartment complexwill be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9 at 4206-4211 Red Valley Way, Knoxville.

Mayor Madeline Rogero and Jackie Mayo with Knox Housing Partnership, along with other community leaders, will open Dutch Valley - an affordable housing apartment complex with high-efficiency energy standards. The Dutch Valley View complex was designed by Elizabeth Eason Architects and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes project.

Materials used throughout the complex will help to reduce maintenance costs. The lights, fans, and refrigerators in the apartments are all Energy Star certified, which will reduce utility bills.

The Dutch Valley View complex replaces a foreclosed dilapidated four-unit apartment complex and was made possible through City of Knoxville Community Development Department HUD funds (Neighborhood Stabilization Program and HOME), which is part of the City's ongoing pledge to support access to affordable housing.

In conjunction with the event, Mayor Rogero will kick off Community Development Week.
