Crews' Survivor Project on Display at City County Building

Posted: 10/11/2012
Artist Bobbie Crews currently has her work entitled "The Survivor Project" on display in the City County Buidling on the Main level.

Crews created "The Survivor Project" as a response to the women who have survived abusive relationships and have chosen to move on with their lives. She worked on the collection of paintings as she listened to the survivors share their stories.

"The Survivor Project," was first displayed at Child & Family Tennessee's Founding Families 2012 - The Art of Possibility luncheon and fundraiser last spring and has also been on display in the Knoxville Family Justice Center.

About Bobbie Crews

Crews has been a Knoxville resident since 1990. She does murals, portraits and design; works as a courtroom sketch artist; gives individual instruction and critiques; hosts life drawing sessions for other professional artists; and, perhaps most importantly, makes art for women's issues, especially for the awareness of domestic violence. She holds a BFA in studio art from the University of Tennessee. She is an intuitive painter, bringing forth the human element in her subjects. Her works are collected throughout the U.S. as well as in Bermuda and Africa.
