City Departments Join EarthFest Celebration

Posted: 04/19/2012
Representatives from the City of Knoxville's Office of Sustainability and Recycling programs will have a booth at EarthFest 2012 this Saturday to provide information and answer any questions about the City's many green initiatives.

"This is a great opportunity for us to get out and talk to people about sustainability and the different ways we are putting that in place in Knoxville," said Susanna Sutherland, the City's Sustainability Program Manager.

EarthFest 2012 will take place Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pellissippi State Community College's Hardin Valley campus. As in past years, the event will bring together exhibitors, vendors, and agencies from across East Tennessee. It is a free, "zero-waste" event with food, fun and entertainment for the whole family, including your pet.

A focus at this year's event is how thinking green is good for business and the local economy. Companies and organizations from all over the community will be on hand to reveal how reducing waste, saving energy and being more environmentally conscious has positively impacted both their businesses and bottom lines.

Mayor Madeline Rogero is also planning to attend.
