Performance, Enthusiasm, and Responsibility Earns Award For Organized Crime Unit Accounting Clerk

Posted: 05/13/2010
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Rose Manley the 2009 Civilian Employee of the Year for the Knoxville Police Department. Ms. Manley has been with the department since April 1973.

Chief Owen said that as the Senior Accounting Clerk for the Organized Crime Unit, Ms. Manley is responsible for making sure that drug fund expenditures are accurate each and every month and that each receipt reflects the precise expenditure for each purchase. Ms. Manley often works late to ensure that all case files and expenditures are ready to withstand an audit at any time. She also serves as a resource to investigators and officers who may have procedural questions about documentation for Organized Crime Unit case files.

Chief Owen said, "Ms. Manley is a true professional. She understands the element of her job as well as the duties of the investigators she works with everyday."

Mayor Haslam said, "Ms. Manley is conscientious, responsible, and after more than 30 years of service, continues to have amazing enthusiasm for her job."
