Library to Increase Fee for Out of County Library Cards

Posted: 04/01/2010
Knox County Public Library will be increasing its fee for out of county library cards effective Wednesday, April 7, 2010. The fee will be raised to $40, up from $25 previously.

The fee for a Knox County Public Library card has not changed in over twenty-five years although the amount and types of material and services offered have continued to increase yearly. Out of county library cards are family cards, allowing the entire family to access all library materials and resources, including:

Access to more than one million items in the Library's collection, including books, periodicals, music CDs and audiobooks Loan access to 22,000 videos and DVDs Use of more than 75 online reference databases Access to downloadable audiobooks Computer classes for all skill levels Library programs for children, teens and adults Online services such as hold requests and renewals, e-mail notices, interlibrary loan requests, and the online Ask-a-Librarian

For questions about this change, or to learn more about Knox County Public Library's out of county cards, please contact Mary Pom Claiborne at 865-215-8767.
