Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen announced a name and location change for the 10th annual KPD Halloween party event. The popular Halloween party will now be called Halloween on the Plaza and will be held behind the Civic Coliseum on the Mary Costa Plaza. The party will be on Sunday, October 31, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Chief Owen said, "We made the decision to move the highly anticipated Halloween party to a new location to better serve the thousands of children and adults who participate each year. The move will provide additional space for activities and offer better parking for visitors. For party goers who arrive after 4:00 p.m., free parking will be available in the Civic Coliseum parking garages."

Halloween in the City at Safety City was established after the terrorists attack on September 11, 2001. The free event was designed to provide a safe Halloween experience for children. Since 2001, the event has continued to grow in popularity with thousands of East Tennessee families participating in the activities.

To help fund the 2010 Halloween on the Plaza event, a special donation was made today by Cindy Doyle of the Cindy Doyle State Farm Agency. The very generous $2,000.00 donation is part of the Sate Farm Good Neighbor Service Month Grant. The donation will help provide for fun games and activities.

Chief Owen said, "We are excited to say this is the second year State Farm has contributed to the Halloween on the Plaza event. In addition to their support of the Halloween party, State Farm continues to promote fire safety for children through the Fire Safety House. They are a tremendous asset to this department and the citizens of Knoxville."
