The Governor John Sevier Historic Site will celebrate Statehood Day with Living History demonstrations. Saturday, May 29 from 10am-5pm. Walk amongst Living History interpreters in 18th Century clothing portraying life on the frontier. Militia drills and a reading of the Declaration will take place along with demonstrations of 18th Century life. The celebration will continue into Sunday from 12-5pm with Living History encampments and interpreters. This event is free and open to the public.

Sequoyah Birthplace Museum

On Tennessee Statehood Day Sequoyah Birthplace Museum will feature Cherokee artists demonstrating a variety of crafts throughout the day. Fred Bradley is a well known storyteller and will be telling stories on the museum grounds. Allen Fugate will be demonstrating silver smithing, Trail of Tears story with Bob Eldridge and Charlie Rhodarmer blacksmithing in our new 1800’s blacksmith shop.
