Legacy Tree Fund Tree Planting Feb. 25

Posted: 02/19/2009
The Ceremonial first tree planting ceremony announcing the Legacy Tree Fund, a new initiative created by the Legacy Parks Foundation with the support of the Carol R. Johnson and Associates to increase tree planting in Knoxville will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25 at Union Avenue near where it intersects with Market Street.

Mayor Bill Haslam, Carol Evans - executive director of the Legacy Parks Foundation, Sean Vasington with Carol R. Johnson Associates, Inc. and David Brace - deputy director of Public Service for the City of Knoxville will be among those participating in the ceremony.

The Legacy Tree Fund will increase, improve and accelerate tree-planting activity in city and county parks, along right-of-ways and in open spaces in our community. The Knoxville-based landscape architecture firm of Carol R. Johnson Associates, Inc, - in recognition of its 50th year serving clients across the Southeast - is helping kick off the effort by donating up to 50 trees for the program.

CRJA is partnering with Moon's Tree Farm of Loganville, Ga., and the two firms have worked closely with the Legacy Parks Foundation to develop guidelines for the fund.

For more information about the Legacy Tree Fund, or to make a donation, please contact Carol Evans with Legacy Parks Foundation, at [email protected].
