Progress Continues on North Central Street 
Improving the multi-modal function of North Central Street is underway!

Crews forming new sidewalk at corner of North Central and 5th Avenue

Stormwater infrastructure upgrades on North Central Street have begun and other improvements include: repaired/replaced sidewalks; new curbs constructed; stamped crosswalks for improved pedestrian safety; better defined on-street parking; and improved markings for bike lanes.

PROGRESS SINCE JULY 12, 2018
  • Storm drainage in West Anderson Avenue is complete
  • Storm drainage at Oklahoma Avenue is complete
  • Bump-out curbs and sidewalks at 5th are complete
  • Signal and interconnect infrastructure in Broadway is complete
  • Sidewalks and bump outs are complete across the food truck park
  • Mock up panels have been poured and sandblasted

    b.  Color difference between Newport sand and Nolichucky sand

  • Storm drainage in East Anderson is complete
  • Storm drainage in West Anderson will be completed this week
  • Bump-out curbs and sidewalks at 5th will be complete this week
  • Signal infrastructure in Broadway intersection will be complete this week

  • Added storm drainage (C-28 to C-28A) installed at Pearl Place
  • Storm in Baxter installed to C-45, storm work in Baxter currently stopped due to utility conflicts
  • Sidewalks, gutter pans, and bump-outs along the east side of Central are complete to Bernard Avenue
  • Sidewalks, gutter pans, and bump-outs along the east side of Central are complete from Fulton Place to north end of Magpies building
PROGRESS SINCE MAY 31, 2018
  • Storm drainage installed from East Baxter to Pearl Place
  • Sidewalks, gutter pans, and bump-outs along the west side of Central are complete from Jennings to mid-block between Pruett Place and Bernard Avenue
  • Signals system infrastructure work, except for the foundation for pole B, is complete at 5th Avenue intersection, remaining pole bases and signal cabinet pedestal will be poured today
PROGRESS SINCE MAY 17, 2018
  • Storm drainage in Bearden Place is complete
  • Storm drainage line “B” is complete (all storm from Depot to Dameron Avenue)
  • Sidewalks along the west side of Central are complete from Broadway to Jennings
  • Bump-outs along east side of Central are complete to Fulton Place
  • Planting soil has been placed from Broadway to Fulton Place
  • Asphalt patching is complete in Bearden Place, across Central/Dameron, and along new curbs to Fulton Place
PROGRESS SINCE MAY 3, 2018
  • Storm drainage in Bearden Place is complete except for the 18” line connecting B-55 and B-56
  • Sidewalks along the east side of Central are complete to Broadway
  • Bump-out and added sidewalks at the SE corner of Broadway are complete
  • Roadway curb on NE corner of Broadway intersection is poured from Broadway to Regions Bank lower entrance
  • Signal foundations for poles A and D (5th Avenue) are complete
  • Planting soil has been placed from 4th to Broadway

  • Asphalt has been patched from Broadway to Fulton Place

  • Signal foundation work at 5th Avenue has begun
PROGRESS SINCE APRIL 5, 2018
  • All storm drainage in the Broadway intersection is complete
  • Asphalt has been patched from Broadway to Fulton Place
  • Sidewalks along the west side of Central from 3rd to Broadway have been poured poured
  • Bump out and sidewalks along the east side of Central poured from 3rd approaching the antique store
  • Installation of the 36” storm has resumed and will be installed to structure B50.1 this week
  • Signal foundation at Broadway has been poured
PROGRESS SINCE MARCH 22, 2018
  • 18” storm installed from South of Broadway to across 3rd Avenue, from structure from 3rd Avenue to Central and Broadway
  • Curbs, gutter drains, and sidewalks from Regions Bank’s north entrance to Fulton Place have been poured
  • Floor for storm structure at the center of the Broadway intersection has been poured
  • Storm crossing Broadway, from the center of the intersection to the southwest corner has been installed using 16” ductile pipe
  • Storm crossing Central southbound lanes, from from the center of the intersection to the southeast corner has been installed
  • Storm crossing Central northbound lanes, from from the center of the intersection to the northeast corner has been is delayed by KUB conflicts
    • 16” ductile pipe used due to utility confines and elevation of existing 36” storm line
    • Water line conflict was resolved by KUB crews on 4/4/18
    • Gas line conflict will be addressed by KUB crews on 4/5/18 and 4/6/18
PROGRESS SINCE MARCH 8, 2018
  • 36" storm installed from existing structure at Fulton Place just North of Magpies
  • 18" storm installed from just south of Broadway (at the antique store) to near 3rd Avenue
  • Work on west side curbs and sidewalks from 4th Avenue to Magnolia is complete
  • Bus shelter pad at Crafty Bastard has been poured
  • Work north of Broadway on curbs, sidewalks, and entrance to Regions Bank has begun
PROGRESS SINCE FEBRUARY 22, 2018
  • Storm drainage installation across 5th Avenue is complete and asphalt in 5th is patched
  • 36" storm installed from existing structure at Regions Bank to the structure at Central Filling Station, and cross Fulton Place - progressed has been slowed by rock excavation
  • East side curbs, gutter pans, sidewalks and asphalt patching is complete to bump-out at 622 North Central (FM George)
  • Work on west side curbs and sidewalks from 4th Avenue to Magnolia has begun
  • Bus shelter pad at Crafty Bastard will be poured today
PROGRESS SINCE FEBRUARY 8, 2018
  • KUB has corrected the utility conflicts at 5th Avenue and at the entrance to Regions Bank
  • 36" storm installed from existing structure at Regions Bank to the structure at Central Filling Station, and should be to Fulton Place by the end of this week
  • Curbs and sidewalks at the corner of 4th Avenue and N. Central are complete
  • Bus shelter pad at the corner of 4th Avenue is complete
PROGRESS SINCE JANUARY 25, 2018
  • Storm pipe installed from 4th Avenue to 5th Avenue
  • All ADA ramps at the Magnolia intersection have been replaced
  • Asphalt has been patched from Depot to Magnolia
  • Work has begun for curbs and sidewalks at the corner of 4th Avenue and N. Central
