Fun crowd, lots of energy, at the Air National Guard Base this morning, as the lineup of top-tier performers for the April 16-17 Smoky Mountain Air Show was announced.

Proceeds after expenses will benefit HonorAir Knoxville, which this spring will make its 20th flight from Knoxville to Washington, D.C. The group offers free tours of the capital and military monuments to veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

HonorAir, created by downtown business leader and former Deputy to the Mayor Eddie Mannis, has served more than 2,800 veterans.

The Smoky Mountain Air Show is being headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, while other performers include acrobatic aviators, a woman who took up air show performances as a second career at age 50, and World War II warbirds.
