Police Department Honors Officers, Employees and Good Samaritan Citizens

KPD Officer Steve Frazier recognized for his persistence, over many weeks, in helping a disabled homeless woman find housing and support services.

Great to honor the outstanding teamwork, dedication and service of Knoxville police officers today!

KPD awarded Officer and Employee of the Month recognitions to four officers and a civilian crime victim advocate and recognized its Honor Guard with a Unit Commendation. Two additional officers were saluted with Lifesaving Awards, and two civilians were recognized as Good Samaritans who helped officers apprehend a violent, fleeing suspect.

Last year, Knoxville police officers responded to more than 250,000 calls for service. On average, that’s almost 700 calls a day – or 28 calls an hour, every hour.

We appreciate the dedication, professionalism and sense of service that all of our officers bring to their jobs. Thank you for your service - and congratulations to today's award honorees.

Members of KPD's Honor Guard recognized for their commitment and precision. The unit provides its services at more than 40 memorials, funerals and ceremonies each year.

Good Samaritan Adel Agounine helped foil a carjacking last fall by driving his vehicle directly behind a vehicle being stolen - saving an elderly woman in the car and the arresting officers from injury.

During the same incident, Steve Richards, a City employee, saw the fray and came to the officers’ aid.
