Week 5: Banners Hung on Perimeter Fence, Demolition and Cleanup Work Continue
If you're near the Public Safety Complex construction site, you'll notice the banners hung on the perimeter fencing.
The City wants to remind the neighbors that this project represents a $40 million investment in a combined headquarters for City Police, Fire, Pension System and City Court operations. The public investment also will prevent the vacant hospital campus from slipping into a blighted eyesore.
Separately, the City is investing $6.5 million to clear the northern end of the former hospital campus to create opportunities for private redevelopment.
This week, contractor crews will be cleaning up and hauling away debris from the East Wing demolition, while removal of the foundation will continue. Metal stairs and a utility tunnel will be tackled in early April.
Elsewhere on the site, crews will continue interior demolition in the Professional Office Building, working down from the 8th floor.
