Knoxville Police Department Investigator Jason Booker was named the 2017 recipient of the Mike Waggoner Leadership Award. 

Investigator Booker has been with KPD since August 1998.

Investigator Booker is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division where he serves as a Major Crimes Investigator.  Consistently, Jason is sought after for advice by other investigators.  When he is assigned to a case you know without a doubt that Jason will not leave any stone unturned in his search to find the suspects.  Words used to describe Jason by his peers include Solid, Driven, Commitment, and Leader.  

Jason also cares about his community.  When an officer from Texas was visiting critically ill children in East Tennessee while portraying Batman, Jason came to the rescue when the “Batmobile” broke down.  Jason quickly helped to organize resources that allowed Batman to continue his trip across the Southeast visiting children stricken with cancer.  

Investigator Booker is the consummate investigator, citizen, and friend to all of his peers and this department is better prepared to meet the daily challenges due to his unwavering dedication.
