The Mayor’s Council on Disability Issues (CODI) is conducting a survey to learn how residents, visitors and others would help make Knoxville the friendliest city for people with disabilities and seniors. 

What would it take to make Knoxville the most disability friendly city in the country? More wheelchair-accessible parking and restrooms? More accessible sports or playgrounds? More job opportunities? The City wants to hear from you!

“There are many important factors that contribute to a high quality of life for people with disabilities and seniors,” says Stephanie Cook, the City’s ADA coordinator and liaison to the CODI. “We are using this survey to gather and prioritize input from the community, to help make sure we’re on the right track as Knoxville grows. Enhanced accessibility improves quality of life for all residents.”  

The key areas that make cities friendly for people with disabilities and seniors are transportation, housing, health services, civic and social involvement, recreational and leisure facilities, environment and weather, education, and employment.  
Knoxville residents, visitors and others who would like to provide input can complete the online survey at http://bit.ly/CODIsurvey. Completed surveys should be submitted no later than Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018.

Survey results will help City staffers better understand the factors and facilities that are important to you.
